What would we do without it? I’d never have met some of my most favorite people in the world, nor become who I am today without it.
From email, cell phones, chat, social media, and phone conferences, to appliances, cars, and central air conditioning, technology has swept the nation. I’m thankful for it. How we panic when the power goes out!
I think about simpler times sometimes, and old fashioned ways, and marvel at how much has changed, what we’ve gained and lost. I couldn’t make biscuits from scratch, and I’d do a lousy job of baking over an open flame, but I can touch hundreds of lives with my words and know what’s happening around the globe right now.
Today, having a computer makes me happy (not to mention appliances for chores!) because even in the midst of personal trials, I can chat with a friend who can cheer me up from a thousand miles away.
Just the smell of the hot griddle makes me drool!
Syrupy sweet, fluffy, buttery, pats of dough a golden brown.. *sigh*
When I was little, my Grandma would only make pancakes on Saturdays, even if we arrived earlier in the week. They made Saturday the best day of the visit! It was worth getting up and grabbing a spot at the table before the cousins got it all sticky.
Warm, gooey, quick and easy, pancakes can be made with berries, chocolate chips, cinnamon, bananas, and almost anything that you wish. Flapjacks, Stacks, Hot Cakes, or Pancakes, no matter how you say it, they provide the basis to any good and filling breakfast. What’s not to love?
Yeah, I knew there is a holiday devoted to mothers, but my mother came over just to spend a few hours with us. We had no plans, just talked about nothing, watched a DVD with the kids, and took them outside to play.
Just spending time with Mom was nice. It was soft and warm and comforting to have her near. She left me feeling good about my house and raising my boys. That’s the best part. So many have moms that like to out our faults or never say they love you or never thank you. to have a satisfying, no-expectations visit is a breath of fresh air.
Who do you shoot-the-breeze with? Who in your life lifts you up, (and maybe needs a little appreciation?)?
I wish they existed and my laundry was magically clean, fresh, and kissed by sunlight!
I seem to instead have a pesky pixie in my laundry room! I valiantly retrieve lost socks from its tiny grasp!
You know what would be better than a laundry fairy though? A Dishes Fairy. I hate doing them. Even with a dishwasher, it’s still my least favorite chore.
What chore fairies do you wish you had?

What Did That Owl Just Say?
(Thanks to Coyote Chris for bringing the animals to the library and sharing them with the kids!)
This picture inspires fiction.
What did that owl just say to him? Apparently it was surprising. Maybe it was surprising to hear the owl talk, or maybe the words themselves spoke volumes.
Write about what you think happened!
I’ve been reconnecting with an old friend and learning more about them now than before. I really appreciate that they choose to spend time talking to me. It makes me feel a little bit special, especially when I consider where they are in life, and how many other people I know who don’t try to connect with me the same way.
Today’s happy thought is about friendship.
Not only do I have this connection to my friend mentioned above, but I also have a great husband who shares links to funny things, movie preferences, and inside jokes. When I consider all the choices out there in mates, I’m glad I chose someone who will also be my best friend.
Friendship makes life a warmer place.

Who doesn’t love shopping??
Okay, so I know a few people that don’t, but getting something new is always a treat, even if you have to battle crowds and shop around for the best deal. In fact, I think that is half the fun!
Try it on,
Laugh it off
Hike up another floor
Neon signs galore!
Pack them in the car
